John Mahama, a former president of Ghana, has urged the Christian Council to put in place specific standards of conduct to direct the actions of Christian leaders in spotting and removing false prophets.
He said that even if the Bible foretells the rise of false prophets as the end times draw near, it is prudent to carefully examine their operating procedures to make sure that the right things are done.
The NDC flagbearer indicated that many people had left their churches in favor of other things as a result of the attitudes of some self-styled prophets during an induction service at the Tanoso Assemblies of God Church.
According to Mr. Mahama, Christians shouldn’t let false prophets deter them from going to church; instead, they should be faithful and honestly serve their God.
He commended the Church’s leadership for their dedication, commitment, and love of people.
Osei- Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the majority leader of parliament and MP for Suame, was also present and expressed his displeasure at churches endorsing consumerism over the core principles of religion.
The Assemblies of God Church’s leaders were congratulated by Mr. Mahama for their continuous dedication to sharing the gospel.
He continued by saying that LGBTQ is incompatible with all Christian denominations, as well as with the cultural values and traditions of the country and that there is no way the nation can tolerate it.
“Our traditions and cultures, conventions and practices do frown on this. We have Muslims and Christians in this country, fortunately for us the two major religions appeal this matter, so, however, people are trying to make it appear as if Ghana is on the brink of legislating to support this, I don’t know where this is coming from,” he indicated.
He nudged other pastors and the Assemblies of God Church to pray for the nation as it approaches an election year in order to foster harmony and peace.
