TOURISM MINISTER PLEDGES FUNDING TO REVIVE ABANDONED KWADASO CREATIVE ARTS SCHOOL

After a two-day inspection visit, Abla Dzifa Gomashie commits to engaging GETFund and the Presidency to secure funds for the 50%-completed specialist high school, stalled since construction began in 2019.

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has pledged to secure funding for the completion of the long-abandoned Kwadaso Creative Arts Senior High School in the Ashanti Region, following a two-day working visit to assess the site.

The project, which began in December 2019 under the previous administration, has been stalled at approximately 50% completion after the contractor left the site due to financial constraints.

Mrs. Gomashie assured that her ministry will immediately engage the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and other relevant agencies to release the necessary resources. She also plans to submit a detailed report to the President to expedite the process.

“We will engage the GETFund Administrator and all stakeholders to ensure the funds are released so this state-of-the-art Creative Arts School is completed for the benefit of our young talents and the creative industry at large,” the Minister stated.

The school, designed to be the first of its kind in Ghana, is envisioned as a dedicated institution to nurture young talents in the creative arts, a sector that contributes significantly to the national economy.

During the Minister’s visit, the project consultant highlighted the urgent need for financial support to prevent further deterioration of the unfinished structures and enable the contractor to return to site.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the school becomes operational, positioning it as a cornerstone for the development of Ghana’s creative arts ecosystem.
