‘TRANSFORM DADDY LUMBA’S EAST LEGON HOME INTO A MUSEUM’— Mark Okraku-Mantey Urges Lumba Family

The former Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mark Okraku-Mantey, has suggested that the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba’s East Legon mansion be turned into a public museum instead of being used as a family home.
In an interview with Aluta FM on November 12, 2025, Mark made the case that turning the property into a heritage destination would both protect the musician’s memory and give the family a reliable source of income. He said it would be a lost opportunity to leave the land only for private usage. In a video shared on X, he proposed that the structure be used to create a museum, a tiny meeting space, and even a mini-restaurant that guests would have to pay to enter. He pointed out that such a development might turn into a cultural icon that could accommodate foreign visitors and dignitaries.
‘I am suggesting that Lumba’s East Legon house should be converted into a museum. The family will earn far more from that than they would by simply residing in it,’ he remarked.
