US DID NOT ONLY FINISH OUR SUPREME LEADER, THEY HAVE ALSO KILLED OUR DEFENSE MINISTER AND CHIEF OF ARMED FORCES — Iran Confirms Amid 40-Day State Mourning

General Abdol Rahim Mousavi and Defence Minister General Aziz Nasirzadeh have been confirmed dead following US-Israeli air strikes that targeted a meeting of Iran’s defence council, according to Iranian state television.

The strike also killed the head of the Revolutionary Guard and security adviser Ali Shamkhani.

Iranian state media said the broader aerial bombardment hit key military and government sites.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was also confirmed dead earlier in the day, and a 40-day state mourning period has been declared.

Authorities reported at least 201 people killed and more than 700 injured, with about 40 officials said to be among the dead.

In response, Iran launched strikes across parts of West Asia, with reported impacts in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain and Kuwait, countries that host US military bases or are allied with Washington.

US President Donald Trump described Khamenei’s death as a major opportunity for change in Iran, saying it gives the Iranian people a chance to reclaim their country.
