VYBZ KARTEL PRAISES SHATTA WALE FOR HEARTFELT DONATION TO HURRICANE-HIT JAMAICA

The Ghanaian dancehall star's contribution to a foundation run by the incarcerated Jamaican artist has been hailed as an act of "love, urgency, and brotherhood" that strengthens the bond between the two nations.

Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has been publicly honored by Jamaican music icon Vybz Kartel for making a significant donation to support victims of Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.

The catastrophic hurricane, which ravaged the island in late October and early November, resulted in at least 45 fatalities and affected an estimated 1.6 million people. Shatta Wale extended his support through the Adidja Palmer Foundation, a charity established by Vybz Kartel.

Announcing the contribution on his Instagram page on Friday, Vybz Kartel shared a photo of Shatta Wale and expressed deep admiration for the gesture. He described the donation as far more than financial aid.

“Your donation wasn’t just money, it was love, urgency, and brotherhood in action,” Kartel wrote. He hailed Shatta Wale as an “African dancehall superstar” and emphasized that the act symbolized a deep cultural connection, stating, “This is Africa to Jamaica, Ghana to Gaza, one rhythm, one heartbeat, one culture, united through music and real friendship.”

In a statement accompanying the post, Shatta Wale explained his motivation, calling Jamaica “family.” He stated, “When family is hurting, you don’t sit and watch, you stand up and help… This is not about fame or music, this is about real unity between Ghana and Jamaica.”

The public acknowledgment from one of dancehall’s most influential figures underscores the gesture’s significance, reinforcing music as a unifying force for humanitarian aid and strengthening the historic bond between the Caribbean and West Africa.
