WA CIRCUIT COURT SENTENCES 19-YEAR-OLD ROBBER TO 20 YEARS WITH HARD LABOUR

The Wa Circuit Court has handed down a 20-year imprisonment sentence with hard labour to 19-year-old Adams Hamidu, popularly known as “Gyida,” following his conviction for robbery. The ruling was delivered on June 5, 2025, after a thorough investigation and prosecution by the Upper West Regional Police Command.

The case dates back to February 2025 when Hamidu and an accomplice, disguised with a mask, forcefully robbed a victim of a blue Honda motorbike valued at GH¢20,000, a Tecno mobile phone worth GH¢1,300, and cash amounting to GH¢10,800.

The police’s intelligence-led efforts culminated in Hamidu’s arrest on June 1, 2025, at Domowa in the Wa West District.

In a statement, the Upper West Regional Police Command emphasized that the conviction underscores its unwavering dedication to protecting the community and enforcing the law. The Command pledged ongoing vigilance in fighting crime to ensure the safety and security of residents across the region.
