FATAU MOTORWAY WHO ALLEGEDLY FIRED GUNSHOTS DURING NPP-NDC CLASH AT MAMOBI ARRESTED

The Ghana Police Service reported the arrest of the armed suspect involved in the clash between NDC and NPP supporters in Mamobi.

A couple of days back, law enforcement launched a search for the armed individual, offering a Ghc20,000 reward for his capture and asking the community to provide any information that could help in his apprehension.

Reports indicate that the primary suspect, known as Fatau Motorway, was apprehended brandishing a firearm during the confrontation in Mamobi, Accra on October 13, 2024.

Nine individuals were wounded in the chaos, and it is thought that Fatau Motorway, who was captured on video displaying a weapon, instigated the violent incident.

In a recent update, law enforcement revealed that Fatau Motorway has been arrested and is now in police custody, pending his court appearance.

A few weeks ago, during a routine weekend political campaign walk in Mamobi, Accra, violence erupted resulting in two people being shot and others injured.

The confrontation took place among followers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), after what was initially planned as a calm gathering.

The regular fitness walk, organized by both groups every weekend during their campaigns, was cut short when a faction of motorcyclists from one party came across the followers of the other party.

The argument supposedly started over who would go through a specific area first but soon turned into a violent confrontation.
