WE ARE BACK TOGETHER FOR GOOD TO PREACH UNITY – Praye

Music lovers, especially fans of Hiplife group, Praye, must be very happy that their persistent calls for the group to reunite have been answered.

They are back. It has been seven long years of speculation, hope and doubt but finally the three; Praye Tenten, Praye Tietia and Praye Honeho smoked the peace pipe.

That long waiting time was not easy on their fans but as the group readies to release new material, Gbang Gbang on October 12, 2018 on Peace FM’s morning show, Kokrokoo to officially announce their comeback, the members opened up to Showbizon Tuesday that it wasn’t easy for them as well.

Praye Tietia, who spoke on behalf of the group said the break up was the worst decision they took. “Yes, that was obviously a decision to regret since at the time, we were making it big in the industry so definitely, it wasn’t the best decision we took at the time,” he said.

The group officially announced their break up in 2012 at a time their career was at an all time high. It was Praye Tenten who left the group first and although there were expectations that he would come back to the fold, that did not happen.

In 2014, the two who had been holding the fort, Praye Honeho and Praye Tietia, also parted ways.

They went solo and released a couple of songs but they could not recapture the magic they made as a group and that, Praye Tietia said had revived the relevance of unity to them.

“The truth is that what we sought to achieve as solo artistes could never happen compared to how we performed as a group. At least, everyone knows that we need each other’s strength to excel so nobody will feel superior over the other.

“If in times past, I thought I was the best or any other member exhibited that, we know our real size now and as we get back together again, we would appreciate everyone’s input. Seven years is long enough to right the wrongs in our lives.

“At the time, we were young men enjoying fame but today, we are all married with our respective families and that means we have to show a lot of respect for one another.

“As I said earlier, the break up was one of the biggest setbacks in our music careers but that notwithstanding, we have learnt the lessons and are moving on. We can’t continue holding on to the past because the future holds a lot of promises than the bitter past,” he said.

Talking about the reunion, which will officially see the premiering of their first song, Gbang Gbang and two other songs tomorrow, Praye Tietia told Showbiz that their coming back together is also to promote unity across the continent.

“The lack of unity in Africa has been a curse and so this is to tell our African leaders and people that unity is very important. We will be holding some unity concerts to drum home that agenda in the coming weeks,” he stated.

Praye Honeho, who shared similar sentiments as Tietia in a telephone interview with Showbiz said, “It is great news for both fans and the group”.
