Ernestina Fosu, the elder sister of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has issued a stark challenge to the family leadership, demanding a thorough investigation into her brother’s death before any burial takes place and declaring her opposition to the scheduled December 6 funeral.
In a fiery video circulating online, Madam Fosu passionately swore by the Asantehene’s throne, directly confronting family head Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu. She insisted that the family must determine the true cause of her brother Charles’s death before proceeding with funeral arrangements.
This dramatic intervention comes just days after her initial reaction to the Kumasi High Court’s dismissal of an injunction that sought to halt the funeral. Speaking to media outside the court on October 28, Fosu had calmly but firmly stated her position: “I’m not ready. That 6th December that has been set for the funeral of my brother, I’m not ready.”
The latest video represents a significant escalation in the family dispute, with Fosu now explicitly demanding a death investigation and challenging the authority of the family elders. Her stance aligns with that of Daddy Lumba’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa, with whom she jointly filed the initial injunction application.
The confrontation creates additional complications for the planned December 6 funeral at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, raising questions about whether the event will proceed as scheduled amid growing family divisions and unresolved questions surrounding the music icon’s passing.
