WE WERE TOLD HE WAS BUSY – Ghana Film Authority Reacts To Spike Lee’s Comments That No One Approached Him From Ghana Film Industry

The Ghana Film Authority has responded to Spike Lee’s recent statements that no one from Ghana’s film industry contacted him during his recent visit. Spike Lee is a well-known American actor and filmmaker.

The filmmaker was a member of the Creative Arts delegation that traveled to Ghana for three days with Kamala Harris, the vice president of the United States.

The American actor claimed that he was unaware that Ghana has a vibrant film industry during an interview on Asaase Radio in which he was asked about the Ghanaian film business.

According to him, “I know about Nigeria, and no one has approached me from the film industry in Ghana. I would love to meet people in the film industry but no one has approached me”.

The Ghana Film Authority issued a statement in response to Lee’s assertions, claiming that attempts to meet the actor in Ghana were unsuccessful.

We have become aware of a circular on the visit of Mr. Spike Lee. As excited as we were to hear this news after he landed on air, the Authority’s CEO was on her way to meet Mr. Lee to reiterate the positioning when the Authority was informed that his schedule was busy for the evening”.

Ghana Film Authority through its statement urged organizers of such trips to inform the necessary agencies to ensure that Ghana takes full advantage of all opportunities for the benefit of all.
