LOOK AT MY MUSCLES, WE WON’T SACRIFICE THIS ELECTION ON THE ALTAR OF PEACE – NPP National Youth Organiser Declares

In what appears to be an exchange of words about the upcoming general elections in December this year between the two major political parties, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has warned that it will not sacrifice the elections on the altar of peace.

This comment by the party’s National Youth Organiser, Salam Mustapha, comes at a time when the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has suggested that the party will not sign any peace accord ahead of the polls.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, Asiedu Nketia voiced doubts about the effectiveness of such pacts, citing the lack of tangible outcomes from similar agreements in the past. “Signing a peace declaration doesn’t mean anything to the party, as previous pacts have not yielded any real results,” he said.

It also comes not long after Abetifi legislator and Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong was condemned for stating that the NPP would win the polls at all costs.

While speaking at a mini rally of the NPP in Takoradi after a health walk on Saturday, August 17, ahead of the party’s manifesto launch on Sunday, Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organizer the party stated emphatically that the party will not give away the election on the altar of peace.

He noted that the NPP has the people to match the NDC and cannot be intimidated.

“Nobody in this country can intimidate the NPP out of power. We have worked more than the NDC. Our records beat the NDC. Everything we have done, I far better than the NDC. There’s not a single thing that the NDC can use to beat us in this election.”

“I have a little response for the NPP. On Monday, I saw a quote attributed to their National Youth Organiser. He said ‘The NDC will not be a victim of peace.’ I am also telling them, that the NPP will not sacrifice this election on the altar of peace. We will not do it. We will not submit, we will not be cowed, prevented, or pushed.

“Look at my muscles, these muscles are natural, my muscles are full of bones. If the NDC believe they are stronger than us, they should dare in this election and they will see that we have the men.

“We’re for peace, we like peace, we’re for the progress of the country. But we will not be pushed out by any form of tactics. Ghanaians will make their choice and vote for the NPP.”

Joy News’ Samuel Mbura reports that thousands of supporters participated in the party’s health work in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, which ended with speeches from various individuals including the party’s vice presidential running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
