WE ARE COMMITTED TO PRODUCING A ROBUST VOTERS REGISTER – Electoral Commission of Ghana Assures NDC

The Electoral Commission (EC) has assured the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other important parties that they are aware of its dedication to creating a trustworthy and strong list of voters.

After receiving a petition from the NDC leadership following their protest, the Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations at the EC, Samuel Tettey, emphasized in a signed statement that the process of creating a final voter register is still in its early stages.

The EC indicated that it is “mindful that the Voters Register is the bedrock of credible, fair and transparent elections” and therefore remains committed to producing a robust voter register ahead of the December 7 general elections.

NDC and its local branches staged a protest against the EC, urging for a forensic audit of the voters register due to discrepancies found upon receiving the provisional register.

The NDC alleges that there are more than 243,000 unauthorized names on the transferred list that need to be looked into.

Below is the EC’s response;
