The leader of the NDC caucus in Parliament is not relinquishing their new position in Parliament as the Majority Group.
According to them, they will guard their new position in parliament jealously and no one can take it away from them.
At their first press conference as “Majority” in Parliament, they said “We will jealously protect our new Majority status and will not bow, retreat nor surrender our lawfully earned status. We will also not abdicate our responsibility to the people no matter what! Nothing, absolutely nothing, will change this position!
We are fortified that the ‘proceedings’ of Parliament ‘shall not’ be ‘impeached or questioned in any court or place out of Parliament.’ Any interference with the business of Parliament is unlawful, and unacceptable and shall be resisted. We have never hidden our position that we are in this Parliament for the ordinary Ghanaian.”
The NDC in Parliament indicated that there will not be any form of fight in Parliament but rather they will fight against poverty that is destroying the life of Ghanaians.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Friday, October 18 ruled that the decision by the Speaker of Parliament to declare some four seats vacant must be stayed.
What this meant was that Parliament will go back to its place before the Speaker’s ruling on the matter.
