Legendary music producer Appiah Dankwah, known as Appietus, has revealed that receiving Grammy Award nominations often relies on having friends who can advocate for your work.
“As for the Grammys it is an academy of peers who are friends and people who know each other and they sit down and nominate their friends,” he told Amansan Krakye as Nkonkonsa.com monitored.
According to the renowned sound engineer, Rocky Dawuni has received multiple nominations due to his peers being inducted among the academy members.
He stated, “Basically, that’s what it is so if you’re not part of the academy or you don’t have friends there you can’t be nominated because you’ve to be inducted into it.
“You can only bring your works when you’re inducted and two people can recommend your works thereby justifying your impact from your continent.
“If you don’t have anybody who will take your work there you’ll never be nominated so seeing Rocky Dawuni there means someone has been nominating him constantly,” he said.
