CHAIRMAN WONTUMI’S TWO MINING CASES ADJOURNED TO NOV. 12 AND DEC. 4
Prosecution to Serve Disclosures in One Case as AG Drops Charges Against Fourth Accused to Serve as Witness

The two separate mining-related court cases involving Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, have been adjourned to later dates.
In the first case, where Wontumi faces allegations of permitting mining on his concession at Samreboi without the required approval, the hearing has been postponed to November 12, 2025. The adjournment was granted following a request from the prosecution, which needs more time to serve the defense with the necessary disclosures.
The second case, which accuses the party chairman of engaging in unauthorized mining operations within the Tano Nimire Forest Reserve, has been adjourned to December 4, 2025. This postponement was due to the presiding judge being on leave.
In a significant development, the Attorney General has formally discontinued the case against the fourth accused person, Edward Akuoko, who is the General Manager of Akonta Mining a company owned by Chairman Wontumi. This decision paves the way for Mr. Akuoko to serve as a prosecution witness in the ongoing legal battles.
The adjournments allow for further legal preparations as the prosecution builds its case against the prominent political figure.
