Julius Dacosta, a skilled gospel artist who previously performed hiplife/hip hop tunes, has disclosed that composing gospel music is more challenging than composing secular songs.
Identified as Mighty J, the singer emphasized that creating gospel music necessitates being filled with God’s spirit and word, as well as being skillful in composing.
He made this statement while speaking on the Max Morning Show in Accra on Friday.
“For me it is difficult to write gospel songs because everything is about ‘Jesus-Jesus.’ So what is there to write again? Unlike writing my Hiplife and Hip-hop, that one, it is very easy for me to put words together,” he said.
The musician, who has shifted his music from secular to gospel, stated that gospel music is more intellectual and is an art to touch the hearts of God’s children, which are more inspirational and divinely driven.
Speaking about his distinct accent and delivery, he mentioned that music producer Kaywa advised him to keep his Nigerian accent in order to stand out in the market.
Mighty J has launched his first solo music track named “Overload” after leaving the music group “Double J” a few years ago.
Also marking his debut commercial song of 2024, setting the stage for future music releases.
He advised Ghanaians to anticipate an upcoming album from Mighty J, set to be out in 2025, and to listen to his music on various digital platforms.
