XANDY KAMEL CALLS FOR ARREST OF FAST TV CEO OVER COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT

Popular Ghanaian actress and producer Xandria Dede Kamel, widely known as Xandy Kamel, is taking decisive legal action against Accra-based broadcaster Fast TV for alleged copyright violations. In a formal press statement shared via her Instagram page on Thursday, July 31, 2025, Xandy Kamel confirmed the arrest of Fast TV’s CEO, Mr. Obed Mawuli MiFutsu, by uniformed officers from the Odorkor Police Station.
The arrest, supported by the Ghana Copyright Office and prominent filmmaker Mr. Socrate Safo, comes in response to Xandy Kamel’s official complaint regarding the unauthorized broadcast of her film.
According to Xandy, Fast TV unlawfully aired her latest movie, Unseen Beauty featuring Nollywood star Uju Okoli on their platform less than 48 hours after its debut on her official YouTube channel, XandyKamelsTV. She claims this unauthorized screening occurred before she could recoup any significant investment or revenue from the film’s release.
In a viral video posted earlier this week, Xandy Kamel was seen in tears, decrying Fast TV’s actions and appealing to the National Film Authority (NFA) and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts for intervention. She emphasized the challenges of producing and promoting original Ghanaian content and called for greater protection of intellectual property within the creative industry.
“Update on Copyright Infringement. With the help of the Copyright Monitoring Team and the support of Mr. Socrate Safo, we’ve made some arrests in connection with the ongoing copyright infringement case. Investigations are currently underway, and we’ll keep you posted as more details emerge. This is in relation to the movie Unseen Beauty, currently showing on XandyKamelsTV on YouTube,” she posted on Instagram.
