YEA CEO BASINTALE RETURNS, DISMISSES RUMOURS OF STROKE AND DEATH

Malik Basintale breaks months-long silence, calls for reflection on human fragility as he resumes duties

The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has publicly addressed the intense speculation about his health and extended absence from work, firmly dismissing rumours that he had suffered a stroke or died.

Speaking for the first time upon his return to the office on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Basintale directly tackled the rumours. He clarified that his prolonged absence was not due to a life-threatening condition. He emphasised that illness is a universal human reality, stating, “It’s only a living man who can fall sick and be healed.” He urged the public to remember that no one is immune to health challenges.

The YEA CEO specifically denied the widespread social media claims that he had suffered a stroke. He reassured staff, stakeholders, and Ghanaians that he is in good health and is fully capable of resuming his official responsibilities.

During his return, Basintale was seen actively engaging with staff, attending meetings, and performing his routine duties, signalling a full resumption of work. His public appearance and a circulating video of his address have helped to quell the rumours that had persisted during his absence.
