“YOU DON’T EXPECT ME TO ASK YOU THAT QUESTION? — Hon. Abena Osei Asare Tackles DVLA Boss

There was drama at Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) hearing when MP for Atiwa East, Abena Osei-Asare, sharply questioned the DVLA Boss over inconsistencies in the registration of vehicle number plates.
In a heated exchange that quickly caught public attention, the MP challenged the DVLA’s claim that the authority doesn’t manually assign or “put numbers” on vehicle plates.
“What are you telling me? People have their names on number plates, and you sit here as the DVLA Boss and tell me you don’t put numbers on number plates?” she fired back.
Her remarks sparked murmurs across the room as she pressed for clarity on how personalised and customised number plates are issued — a matter that has recently stirred public concern over transparency and fairness in the DVLA’s operations.
The DVLA Boss attempted to defend the agency’s process, explaining that such plates are handled through approved customization procedures, but Osei-Asare insisted that the inconsistencies must be addressed.
The exchange has since gone viral, with Ghanaians applauding the MP for demanding accountability and questioning a system many perceive as opaque.
“You don’t expect me to ask you that question? Are you not the DVLA Boss?”
