‘YOU DON’T LIKE MAHAMA MORE THAN I DO; HE EVEN INVITES ME TO HIS HOUSE’ – Agya Koo

Ghanaian actor Alex Kofi Adu, popularly known as Agya Koo has expressed his affection for ex-President John Dramani Mahama, who is the NDC’s presidential candidate.

The versatile Kumawood actor shared this disclosure while performing with a live band at a funeral.

Speaking to the audience at the funeral grounds, Agya Koo also revealed his frequent communication with John Mahama.

He stated that the NDC’s presidential candidate even asked him to come to his house for a discussion.

“We have never had an election in Ghana before and fight. When Nana Addo is in power, I am part of the government, if Mahama also comes to power, I will be part of the government.

“You don’t like John Mahama more than I do. He even invites me to his home, and we sit in his hall to have conversations. Do you like him more than I do?” Agya stated.

His disclosure comes after a situation in which the audience loudly repeated ‘Mahama’ while the actor was performing at the funeral location.

This led to him suddenly stopping his singing due to his unhappiness with how things were unfolding.

In a video posted on X, the actor is shown finishing his act to speak directly to the individual who was shouting out Mahama’s name. Agya Koo is famous for openly stating his allegiance to the New Patriotic Party and President Akufo-Addo.

Nonetheless, his declaration of affection for John Mahama and revelation of encounters with the ex-president seem to have happened following a conversation with him and being asked to return for another performance.

The actor, appearing uninterested, mentioned that certain band members are important figures in the NDC opposition party.

We are all Ghanaians, and we are all tolerant. We have members of the NDC in our band, but we are all working together,” he said while addressing the crowd.

He highlighted that a band member who was formerly a teacher is now involved in organizing for the NPP, whereas the drummers are affiliated with the NDC.

“This lady used to be a teacher in the Central Region, but now she is an organizer in the NPP. The drummers you see here are also members of the NDC, but we are all doing one work and on the same team because we are all tolerant and are all Ghanaians,” he emphasized.

He then questioned the person who chanted, saying, “Why all the noise and chants? Would elections be held today? Are we voting today?”
