MUSIC IS BETTER THAN IT FORMERLY WAS – Rex Omar

Renowned Ghanaian highlife musician Rex Omar has made analogies between the music era and later modifications to the music industry.

Rex Omar asserts that conditions have greatly improved thus the music is now better than it formerly was.

According to the president of the Ghana Music Right Organization (GHAMRO), current advances in the music industry have significantly improved it from a few years ago.

In an interview with Amansan Krakye on Kastle FM, Rex Omar asserted that the globalization of the music industry has led to its expansion.

He went on to remark that it has offered many musicians the chance to make money and get their tunes heard.

“Because of globalization, there are open doors. If people approach it with a business mind, they can make money Rex Omar said.

According to Rex Omar, instead of focusing on writing excellent songs, the bulk of Ghanaian musicians spend their entire careers focusing on the accolades and money they would receive.
“It is also capital intensive so you cannot just get in and depend on good music. It doesn’t work now. You must have your requisite capital, marketing strategy, marketing plan, and everything and if you have the know-how, you can succeed. So it is better than before but then it is also more capital intensive and you have to understand the business aspect”, he said.
