In the event that the New Patriotic Party ever finds itself in opposition, President Akufo-Addo could face legal action, according to the NDC’s communications officer for the Ashanti region.
According to Abass Nurudeen of the National Democratic Congress, even if the President is in a wheelchair at the moment, God would not forgive the NDC if they spare him.
He alleges that the Vice President, the President, and other NPP officials have misled the public about their efforts to fight galamsey.
On October 7, 2022, Mr. Nurudeen claimed during an appearance on Akoma FM’s GhanAkoma that the millions of dollars wasted on the matter were a part of a scheme to wean the populace off of drug addiction and offer NPP members more leeway to engage in criminal behavior.
He suggested that the recent accusations made against Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, a former minister of environment, innovation, and technology, and Ekow Ewusi, the party’s first vice chair for the central region, are proof that the NPP was the driving force behind the promotion of the illegal activity.
