Ghanaian actress and 2010 Beauty of the World pageant winner, Sika Da Diva, has raised eyebrows with her recent comments on dating standards. The actress, known for her roles in films such as Play Boy, Prince’s Bride, and Heart of Men, questioned how any young man earning GHC 1,000 a month could afford to take her out on a date.
In an interview on the Keeping It 100 podcast on September 4, 2024 on Nkonkonsa TV, Sika openly shared her thoughts on fine dining and dating expectations. According to her, it would be impossible for a man with such an income to meet her standards.
“Because of my taste in fine dining, and knowing the cost of fine dining in Accra, a guy earning GHC 1,000 a month doesn’t stand a chance. Fine dining expenses can easily exceed his entire monthly pay,” she explained.
Sika further elaborated that men working regular 9-to-5 jobs with such a salary, particularly those in roles like sales attendants at places such as Accra Mall, would struggle to meet her dating expectations. “An engineer with a 9-to-5 might be different, but if you’re just a regular guy working as a sales assistant, how could you take me out? Is it going to be Papaye or a fast food joint?” she quipped.
Sika’s remarks have sparked discussions on social media about dating preferences and financial stability, with many questioning the role income plays in relationships.
Sika Da Diva began her acting career in 2008 and has since appeared in several popular Ghanaian films.
