Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, has ignited conversations on the internet after remarks made during his latest campaign trip to Yendi, where he met the Overlord of Dagbon.
In his speech to the assembly, NAPO highlighted the significance of Muslims backing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a fellow Muslim and candidate from the North, instead of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In his address, NAPO indicated that the NDC frequently solicits support from Muslims and Northerners while not sincerely addressing their concerns.
NAPO made his stance clear, saying, “If you are a Muslim and you vote for the NDC, it is a haram.” He further added, “If you are an Imam and you pray for Mahama to win instead of Bawumia, it is also a haram.”
NAPO’s remarks arise during a vigorous campaign season, as candidates highlight their ties to different communities throughout Ghana.
He commented, “The NDC only uses Muslims and Northerners for votes; they don’t truly work to uplift their communities.”
