WOMEN OFTEN DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY WANT – Comedian, Okey Bakassi

Okey Bakassi, a famous Nigerian stand-up comedian and actor, spoke on The Honest Brunch podcast, discussing the challenges of interpreting women’s behavior.

After many years of personal experience and observation, Bakassi has acquired valuable understanding of the emotional dynamics that frequently influence women’s behaviors and responses.

He believes that a lot of unpredictability stems from unclear desires in women, which they may not be aware of.

“I’ve spent a lot of time studying how women behave,” he admitted. “You’ll notice that, in general, women can be unclear about what they want. And sometimes, they don’t even realize it themselves.”

He continued to describe how this lack of certainty can lead to various behaviors that men frequently have difficulty comprehending.

There are times when my wife will get upset with me, and I don’t even know why,” Bakassi shared.

“She might be angry, and then, within moments, she’s calm again. It’s confusing for men, but it’s part of the natural ebb and flow of emotions.”

“It’s not that women are being unreasonable or difficult,” he explained. “It’s just that sometimes, their emotions shift, and it can be hard to explain why. But men should learn to accept it.”

Drawing from his years of marriage, Bakassi continued, “I’ve learned that when my wife switches from being angry to being sweet, it’s not about me or something I did—it’s just part of the way she processes her emotions. I’ve had to adjust and become more sensitive to those shifts.”

He highlighted the importance of emotional intelligence in navigating such moments. “A lot of times, men try to ‘fix’ things when they don’t need fixing. Sometimes, you just need to listen and give her space to work through her emotions.”

He pondered his marriage, using his wife as an example to make his point clear.

Bakassi claims that most men experience this emotional change when interacting with women, be it in romantic relationships, friendships, or family situations.

He advised men to remain conscious of their emotional changes and emphasized the need to react with patience and empathy.
