Bishop John Yaw Adu, founder and leader of the New Jerusalem Chapel (NJC), has praised the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy for its significant role in reducing youth involvement in armed robbery and fostering innovation in Ghana.
Speaking during an interview on Kingdom FM, Bishop Adu credited the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for introducing the initiative, which he said has transformed the lives of countless young Ghanaians.
“I firmly support this government because of the Free Senior High School initiative. When was the last time you heard about armed robbery? Many street children have returned to school, thanks to FSHS. The program has been of tremendous benefit to Ghana,” he remarked.
Highlighting the program’s impact, Bishop Adu cited groundbreaking achievements by students benefiting from Free SHS. He noted that students from Obuasi Senior Technical School developed a dialysis machine for kidney patients, while students from Afiakobi Senior High School in the Ashanti Region created an aircraft and an outboard motor.
“These innovations are proof of how the Free SHS policy has inspired young minds to achieve greatness,” he said.
The bishop further emphasized that the policy has elevated Ghana’s education system, positioning the country as one of Africa’s leaders in educational progress. He expressed hope that the initiative would continue to shape the nation’s future by offering opportunities to more children and reducing youth crime.
