DR. MATTHEW OPOKU PREMPEH ACCEPTS 2024 ELECTION DEFEAT, CALLS FOR INTROSPECTION WITHIN NPP

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections, has formally acknowledged the party’s loss in a statement issued on December 11, 2024. Following the victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the presidential and parliamentary elections, Dr. Prempeh emphasized the NPP’s respect for the will of the Ghanaian people and expressed the party’s commitment to working with the electorate to address their concerns.

In the statement, Dr. Prempeh expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve Ghana and his party. He also thanked the NPP flag bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for his leadership and the party’s hierarchy for nominating him as running mate. Acknowledging the overwhelming support he received, he extended his appreciation to party faithful, his team, family, and supporters for their confidence in him.

Dr. Prempeh noted that he had held extensive discussions with Dr. Bawumia to reflect on the reasons behind the electoral defeat. He assured that the party, as a whole, would conduct further introspection to analyze and address the underlying causes of the loss.

Reaffirming his belief in the values, ideals, and traditions of the NPP, Dr. Prempeh expressed optimism about the party’s ability to recover and regain the trust and confidence of the Ghanaian people. “As we go into a period of honest introspection and reflection on this electoral verdict, I am confident that we will emerge stronger and bounce back,” he stated.

The Vice Presidential Candidate concluded by calling on all party members to remain resilient and united, emphasizing the importance of working together to rebuild the party. He expressed hope for a brighter future for both the NPP and the nation.
