LAWYER SLAMS MAHAMA’S TEAM FOR ALLOWING ARMED BURKINA FASO PRESIDENT CLOSE ACCESS DURING HISTORIC INAUGURATION IN ACCRA

Ghana witnessed a monumental moment today as John Dramani Mahama was sworn in for another term as President in a highly anticipated and historic inauguration ceremony. The event, held in Accra, was lauded as a celebration of democracy and stability in Africa, with leaders from across the continent and beyond in attendance.

However, what was meant to be a day of triumph and unity has been clouded by concerns over a perceived security lapse involving Burkina Faso’s President, Ibrahim Traoré. A widely circulated social media post by lawyer Seth Dough Esq. criticized the security detail for allowing Traoré, reportedly armed, to approach President Mahama.

“This was actually an insanely dangerous thing to allow,” Dough stated, adding that leaders like Vice President Bawumia or Nigeria’s President Tinubu would never be granted such leeway. “It’s not about trust. For national security reasons, this was very reckless and shouldn’t be allowed again.”

The alleged incident has sparked public debate, with many questioning the adequacy of security measures at such high-profile events. While the ceremony itself showcased Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy, the controversy surrounding Traoré’s presence has raised concerns about protocol breaches that could have endangered the President.

The inauguration marked the beginning of a new chapter for Ghana, with Mahama emphasizing unity, progress, and Ghana’s position as a model for democratic governance. Yet, as the nation celebrates this milestone, calls for a review of security policies loom large in the aftermath of the event.
