I WAS MINISTER FOR EIGHT YEARS BUT I DON’T OWN ANY STATE PROPERTY – Nitiwul

Former Defence Minister and Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, Dominic Nitiwul, has strongly dismissed any claims of state capture during his tenure, stating that he does not own any government property despite serving in office for eight years.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Nitiwul insisted that he never occupied a state-owned residence or benefited from government resources for personal gain. “I was a minister for eight years, but I don’t have a single government property. I never stayed in a government house, I never did anything illegal,” he stated. He further emphasized his commitment to transparency, announcing that he will officially communicate his position once the investigative committee is properly constituted.

Nitiwul also defended the establishment of Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), an initiative aimed at investigating alleged state capture and corruption between 2009 and 2016. He argued that if the committee is serious about fighting corruption, it must work within a clear timeframe and examine all cases objectively, regardless of political affiliations.

His remarks come amid ongoing political debates about accountability and corruption investigations, with calls for a broader probe into various administrations. The outcome of the ORAL investigations could have significant implications for Ghana’s governance and anti-corruption efforts.
