Max TV has issued a formal apology to Ghanaian singer Cina Soul following widespread backlash over derogatory comments made about her appearance during their morning show.
The controversy erupted after Kumawood actor Big Akwes and the show host criticized Cina Soul’s outfit choice on the Max Morning Show on March 31, 2025, labeling it “skimpy and revealing.” The segment, which went viral on April 1, drew sharp criticism for body-shaming the artist, with viewers condemning the show’s hosts for enabling the attack.
Public outrage intensified as fellow musicians, including Efya, Sista Afia, and Sefa, voiced their support for Cina Soul, calling out the show’s disrespectful tone. Many also criticized the female presenter for failing to intervene during the discussion.
In response, Max Morning Show host Akosua Takyiwaa issued an on-air apology on April 2, acknowledging the inappropriate nature of the comments.
“On Monday, I discussed an entertainment story with my guest, Big Akwes, who made remarks that were unpleasant to the Ghanaian public,” Takyiwaa stated. “On behalf of Imax Media management, the entire Imax team, and Big Akwes, I sincerely apologize for how we handled the story.”
She extended a direct apology to Cina Soul, admitting the conversation had crossed a line. “Cina Soul, we are truly sorry for making it personal and attacking your personality,” she added.
