TWO GHANAIAN PILGRIMS REPORTEDLY DIE DURING HAJJ

The tragic deaths of two Ghanaian pilgrims in Mecca during the current 2025 Hajj journey have been confirmed by the Ghana Hajj Taskforce.

Approximately 6,000 pilgrims from Ghana made the holy trek to Saudi Arabia this year.

Although most are anticipated to return safely after the pilgrimage, the Taskforce disclosed that in addition to the two fatalities, five people were returned home because of issues with their travel documents.

Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, the Hajj Taskforce’s Head of Corporate Affairs, explained the circumstances surrounding the five returning pilgrims in an interview with Citi News.

“Some said they were deported, but we choose to use the word ‘repatriated.’

Deportation connotes some criminality, but these people who have returned have not committed any crime. It was an error in the issuance of their visa,” he explained.

Alhaji Fuseini went into more detail about the type of visa problems that caused the pilgrims to return.

“Some attempts to realign the visas resulted in some unfortunate mistakes where their visas were withdrawn. I can assure you that we are making every effort to get them to go back,” he assured.
