KOFI ADJORLOLO REVEALS HE INITIALLY DREAMED OF A MUSIC CAREER, NOT ACTING

Veteran Ghanaian actor Kofi Adjorlolo has opened up about his original passion for music, disclosing that his childhood ambition was to become a musician rather than an actor.

In a candid interview on The Liz Show with Elizabeth Essuman, Adjorlolo recounted how his musical journey began at the tender age of eight when he mastered the trumpet. His talent was evident early on, leading him to collaborate with some of Africa’s most respected musicians, including Gyedu Blay Ambolley and Sir Victor Uwaifo.

“I loved music so much that by the age of eight, I was already playing the trumpet proficiently,” Adjorlolo shared. “I even had the privilege of performing alongside legendary artists like Gyedu Blay Ambolley and Sir Victor Uwaifo.”

Despite his successful acting career and widespread recognition, Adjorlolo expressed concern over the current state of the acting profession in Ghana. He highlighted the absence of institutional support and insurance schemes as critical challenges that undermine the industry’s growth and sustainability.

“Honestly, I wouldn’t encourage my children to pursue acting given the current environment,” he remarked. “The system is neither encouraging nor enabling for young talents. Do we even have insurance to protect our actors and actresses in Ghana?”

Adjorlolo’s reflections highlight the pressing need for structural reforms to support creative professionals and ensure their well-being in the Ghanaian entertainment sector.
