REAL MADRID PART WAYS WITH XABI ALONSO, APPOINT ALVARO ARBELOA AS HEAD COACH
Club legend Alonso departs after Supercopa defeat to Barcelona; former defender Arbeloa takes over with immediate effect.

Real Madrid have announced the departure of head coach Xabi Alonso, a club legend, following their Supercopa de España final defeat to archrivals Barcelona on Sunday.
In a statement released on Monday, the club confirmed the mutual decision to end Alonso’s tenure, thanking him for his dedication while emphasizing that he “will always carry the affection and admiration of all Madridistas” as both a legend and representative of the club’s values.
Reports suggest the board’s decision was influenced not only by recent results, Madrid currently trails Barcelona by four points in La Liga, but also by concerns over the team’s image and a perceived disconnect between Alonso’s ideas and a significant portion of the dressing room.
Former Real Madrid and Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa has been appointed as his immediate replacement. Arbeloa, who spent seven seasons at the Bernabéu as a player, now steps into his first senior managerial role at the club during a critical period of the season.
