Popular Ghanaian movie actress, Yvonne Nelson has launched a campaign calling on the Akufo Addo-led administration to open all cinemas that have been locked up since the Coronavirus pandemic.
Nkonkonsa.com recalls that in 2020 following the surge in of the deadly COVID-19 cases in Ghana, President Akufo Addo announced the closure of all public avenues.
This includes cinemas, stadiums, night clubs, beaches, restaurants and others as they were marked as the hotspots for the spread of the novel virus.
However, since 2021 began, some of the public spaces have been re-opened whilst the cinemas are still locked keeping movie producers, actors and actresses as well as production personnel in lack as their source of income has been cut off.
On the back of this, Yvonne Nelson has taken to social media to voice out demanding the government to give the order for the re-opening of the cinemas and some of her colleagues such as Salma Mumin have joined in her campaign.
