Mr Beautiful, a Ghanaian actor, has disclosed that his ex-co-worker Agya Koo held a strong aversion towards him, viewing him as a possible rival for power in the Kumawood movie sector.
Mr Beautiful stated that Agya Koo, who became successful in Kumawood following Santo’s passing, worked hard to stay at the top as the main star.
During an interview, Mr Beautiful expressed his admiration for Agya Koo’s impact on local films but mentioned that he was not receptive towards other up-and-coming talents who could challenge his dominance.
“When Agya Koo became popular, he wanted to be the only one in the limelight,” Mr Beautiful elaborated, mentioning that Agya Koo would delay productions while traveling abroad, and producers could face being banned if they did not comply with his requests.
In spite of this, Mr Beautiful was selected to star in the movie Sika Nibre with Agya Koo, which also starred Nana Ama McBrown. Despite the movie’s success, Agya Koo allegedly declined to film more movies with Mr Beautiful unless he was removed from the cast.
Mr. Beautiful revealed that in some cases, producers had to change the plot to meet Agya Koo’s demands, as he was unwilling to share the limelight with another main actor.
Mr Beautiful also shared how producers had to come up with ways to handle Agya Koo’s behavior, particularly when Akrobeto entered the industry following his return from Belgium. To prevent Agya Koo from treating him the same way, Miracle Films had Akrobeto wash Agya Koo’s cars, leading to a stronger bond between the two actors.
Mr Beautiful recognized Agya Koo’s great talent but pointed out that his strong trait led to producers restricting his roles, causing him to have fewer collaborations.
