BAWUMIA CELEBRATES 59TH BIRTHDAY WITH CURED LEPERS AT HIS RESIDENCE

At his home in the Cantonments neighborhood of Accra, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia commemorated his 59th birthday on Friday with treated lepers from the Weija Leprosarium.

Food and beverages were supplied, and the attendees socialized while dancing to upbeat music and cutting the vice president’s birthday cake with them.

Ministers of state, members of Parliament, clergy, and loved ones were all present at the event.

Also in attendance was Mr Francis Asenso Boakye, the Minister of Works and Housing, Ms Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr Ussif Mustapha, the Minister of Youth and
Sports, and Mr Henry Quartey, the Greater Accra Regional Minister.

The Vice President is the patron of Lepers Aid Ghana and has helped build a multipurpose hostel for them as well as provided them with food assistance over the years.

Vice President Bawumia made a few brief remarks in which he thanked God for His ongoing protection, grace, and mercies throughout the years.

“I’m overwhelmed by your presence and the love shown me…a year older, a year wiser,” Bawumia added.

He exhorted the populace to never lose empathy for the healed lepers and to not be frightened to approach them, adding, “Show them care and love.”

The Regional Minister, Mr. Henry Quartey, vowed to help the Vice President in his political aspiration to reshape the country and raise living conditions on behalf of the metropolitan, municipal, and district chief executives.

The General Overseer of the Makers Chapel International, Rev. Michael Boadu Nyamekye, giving a short speech said: “A man should not be judged by his religion but his capabilities to transform lives and better the lots of the people”.

Rev. Boadu Nyamekye prayed for God’s favor, knowledge, and insight for the Vice President to accomplish his purpose and assignment in the land of the living.
