Hundreds of people at Bogoso in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality in the Western Region are believed to be dead following a gas explosion that occurred today, Thursday, January 20, 2022.
The dead are victims of a reported explosion that occurred at Appiate after a head-on collision between a motorbike and a vehicle carrying a container with what is suspected to be mining explosives.
Seconds after the collision, the vehicle caught fire razing the community killing over a hundred people.
Cars that were close to the explosion site had their windscreens cracked due to the explosion. Also affected were houses and shops as they caught fire as a result of the explosion.
A major hospital in the area, Aseda Hospital, is flooded with accident victims, with others being taken to the Bogoso Health Centre.
Those who survived the scary accident have also been transferred to Hospitals in Tarkwa and nearby hospitals for treatment.
