According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia have reached an enormous contract worth £172.9 million annually.
Following a rocky relationship with the club due to contentious remarks made in a TV interview with Piers Morgan, the 37-year-contract old’s with Manchester United was terminated.
Now, according to Spanish tabloid outlet Marca, Ronaldo is rumored to have sensationally signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Al Nassr – paying an eye-watering £172.9million per year that will see him play until the age of 40.
The former Real Madrid player turned down a move to Saudi Arabia last summer, but he now appears destined to make the move after receiving no firm interest from Europe’s top teams.
Al-Nassr is one of Saudi Arabia’s most prosperous clubs. They have won the nation’s top division nine times, with their most recent victory occurring in 2019. Rudi Garcia, a Frenchman who has previously managed Roma, Marseille, and Lyon, is their current manager.
The Saudi heavyweights also boast a few well-known players, including goalkeeper David Ospina, Brazilian midfielder Luiz Gustavo, and Cameroonian striker Vincent Aboubakar, who earlier this week at the Qatar World Cup scored a goal that was a strong candidate for goal of the tournament.
