NO PLAYER LACKS COMMITMENT IN THE BLACK STARS – Jordan Ayew

Jordan Ayew, a forward for the Black Stars, disputes the claim that the current national team roster is not dedicated to Jersey.

Well, first of all, I don’t agree with that. No one lacks commitment,” Jordan said in a prematch press conference on Wednesday.

“Everyone who plays football, this is bread and butter and everyone gives this 100%.

Ghana boasts a wealth of individual skills, but the senior national team has been in decline for nearly ten years.

The Jordan generation has struggled in friendlies and qualifying matches and has only won one of its last ten AFCON matches since 2017.

Many have begun to doubt the players’ motivation for donning the national colours in response to this mediocre performance.

But the last son of the Ghana’s football dynasty says, “Everyone is fully committed. Just that sometimes things go your way things, and other times things don’t go your way.

Ghana lost its opening Group B game against Cape Verde on Sunday, with a performance he personally described as below par considering the quality of the players and where they ply their trade.

The result leaves Ghana in precarious situation as the country faces serial winners of this tournament, Egypt on matchday two.

The Crystal Palace forward admits “…tomorrow is going to be a tough game. We put ourselves in this situation and we need to come out of it.

“[As I said] sometimes things go your way sometimes things don’t go your way.

“But we need to force things and tomorrow [Thursday against Egypt], we’re going to force things and we’ll see after.”

For the players to salvage the situation he said is self-inflicted, they would have to play above themselves.

“I think we need to do more that’s for sure and we are ready to do more and we’re going to do more so nobody should worry about that.

“Tomorrow is a big day and we know that it’s a big day and we know how how much it means to Ghanaians and for us.

“We want to perform, we want to perform in this tournament. We didn’t just come here just to visit Abidjan, we came here to to perform well.

“We’ll see what happens tomorrow because and we’re ready. I wouldn’t agree when you people say people lack commitment,” he said.
