‘NDC CAN’T WIN 2024 ELECTIONS WITH MAHAMA’ – EIU Survey Reveals

According to the Economist Intelligence Unit, NDC cannot win the 2024 general elections with John Dramani Mahama as its flagbearer.

Mahama led the NDC through two failed electoral campaigns in 2016 and 2020.

According to the EIU’s five-year estimate for Ghana, announced on April 13, 2022, the opposition party has a better chance of winning the next general election.

As President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo completes his second term in 2024, he has said that he would pass over to a New Patriotic Party, NPP, President, but the opposition is bracing for a showdown with whoever emerges as the NPP’s flagbearer in the 2024 elections.

The administration of President Akufo-Addo is facing various issues, including unemployment, an economic slowdown, and corruption, among others, which London-based experts say will feed residents’ antipathy against the ruling party.

“Our baseline estimate is that persistent public unhappiness with the sluggish pace of governance improvements—such as infrastructure development, job creation, and corruption reduction—will activate anti-incumbency forces and lead the voters to seek a change,” according to the EIU research.
