The cause of the tragic accident that happened at Beposo in the Shama District of the Western Region has been revealed.

On Tuesday evening, 14 people passengers aboard a Ford minibus have been burnt to death after it collided head-on with a heavy-duty truck carrying construction boulders, according to a report shared by Graphic Online.

The website reported that the total number of casualties was confirmed by officials of the Western Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Unit.

The ghastly accident reportedly occurred at a spot between Beposo and Asemassa in the Shama District of the Western region.

Photos of charred bodies of passengers in the minibus with some of them trying to escape but they got trapped and burnt have also been seen from the photos. Meanwhile, personnel from the Ghana Fire Service have since managed to douse the fires.

According to a road user who was also conveying passengers, the driver of the tipper truck which was loaded with huge stones lost control over the wheel as the steering wheel locked after one of the car tires burst.

Speaking in a video, he debunked claims that the accident was a result of overtaking by the Ford minibus but it was due to the collision between the minibus and the truck.
