Ghanaian actor and politician, John Dumelo has lamented over the term of rulership for leaders who are elected into power in Ghana.
John Dumelo in very recent tweet on his official Twitter page claimed that the 4-year term given to presidents to rule in the country does not give the president the room to be effective and efficient enough in his governance.
According to the former Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, the first year for an incoming government entails settling down in the office whereas the last year is focused on doing campaigns for the next elections leaving only 2 years for actual governance.
He suggested that instead of 4 years, we should consider assigning 5 years for successive governments to rule and administer the management of the country more effectively.
4 years is not enough for ANY President/ Gov to function effectively. The first year is used to settle down in the office and the last year for campaign, leaving only 2 years for effective work. We should consider 5 years per term.”
