Hopeson Adorye, a top member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and husband of popular Gospel musician, Empress Gifty Adorye has vented his spleen on those criticizing the ruling NPP government led by Nana Akufo Addo.
Reacting to the #FixTheCountry demonstration some aggrieved Ghanaians mounted a week ago during an interview on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show on Happy FM, Hopeson Adorye said that those calling the government to fix the country are hiding behind their poverty to do so.
According to the politician, the demonstration and what the movement represents were instituted to please former president John Dramani Mahama.
Listeners who contributed to the show during its live telecast fired salvos at him for his loose talk, with one of them saying: “Let Hopeson know I am a member of the NPP. But my family and I will surely vote out the NPP. Fix the Country”.
Hopeson Adorye, on the other hand, was not pleased with these comments from the listeners. Descending on the texters, he said:
“If you insult me, I will insult you. Don’t use poverty to make stupid utterances.
Ghanaians are afraid of speaking the truth. Someone is by the road side selling apples but you will be there playing spa.
Who should put money into your pocket? And then I come to sit on the show, and you come and speak nonsense to me. Do they know what we go through to ensure that the country develops?”
