Ebi Bright, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Tema Central, has filed a legal challenge against the election of Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as Member of Parliament.
In her petition to the High Court, Ebi Bright alleges irregularities in results from three polling stations, claiming discrepancies between the Electoral Commission’s original pink sheets, which bear presiding officers’ names and signatures, and the duplicates provided to the NDC, which do not. She also asserts that vote totals on the original pink sheets do not match the total valid votes or total votes cast.
She is asking the court to annul results from the disputed polling stations and overturn Charles Forson’s victory. Alternatively, she is seeking a court order for a rerun at the three affected polling stations or a reinstatement of earlier results, which declared her the winner.
