The EC has provided assurance to Ghanaians and political stakeholders that all concerns regarding the 2024 voter registration process have been resolved.
During a recent appearance on JoyNews’ Newsfile program, which was monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he announced important steps the EC is taking to guarantee a fair and inclusive electoral process for the upcoming 2024 general elections.
“We have addressed the concerns that were raised, and we are moving forward with measures that ensure transparency,” Dr. Asare stated confidently during the interview.
Dr. Asare stressed the significance of cooperation and openness between the Electoral Commission and political parties. He disclosed that the commission set up a meeting for the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
At this meeting, the EC will provide the political parties and other important stakeholders with the entire voters’ register.
“To foster trust and cooperation, we have scheduled an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting for Tuesday, October 1, 2024,” he revealed.
“At this meeting, the EC will present the complete voter’s register to the political parties and other relevant stakeholders.” he added
The declaration follows previous worries voiced by the NDC and civil society organizations regarding the voter registration process. Critics had expressed concerns regarding the ease of access to registration centers, the management of the registration process by the EC, and the potential disenfranchisement of certain voters, especially in distant locations.
Dr. Asare mentioned that the EC has implemented specific actions to make sure that all eligible Ghanaians can register and vote in the upcoming elections.
This stage is essential in building trust and making sure that all issues are resolved before the election season picks up speed.
