Gospel musician Empress Gifty has opened up about the challenges she and her husband, Hopeson Adorye, faced during his tenure as a Deputy National Security Coordinator under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration. Following the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s triumph in the 2024 general elections, Empress took the opportunity to reflect on their difficult past while jubilantly celebrating the NDC’s victory.
In an emotional message shared on social media, Empress Gifty described the relentless struggles her family endured after her husband was ousted from his position and the NPP for supporting Alan Kyerematen. “They called me bad luck, a witch, and tried to destroy my husband’s reputation with lies. It was devastating, but through it all, I stood by him,” she said while holding his portrait.
The couple previously revealed receiving death threats and enduring a smear campaign against Hopeson Adorye after a series of exposés following his fallout with the NPP. Despite his loyalty and sacrifices for the party, Hopeson was accused of disloyalty, with fabricated stories aimed at tarnishing his image.
As she celebrated the NDC’s win, Empress Gifty, clad in the party’s colors and dancing to their official campaign song, described the victory as vindication. “What was meant for evil, God has turned for our good,” she declared, expressing gratitude for her husband’s resilience and the support they received during their ordeal.
Empress also showered praises on her husband, referring to him as her pillar of strength. “He is a fighter! My king! My baby! They plotted against him, but God has lifted him up again,” she added.
Interestingly, Empress Gifty has had affiliations with both major political parties in Ghana. She originally supported the NDC before meeting her husband and aligning with the NPP. However, her husband’s role in Alan Kyerematen’s “Movement for Change” brought them full circle, with Empress now openly celebrating the NDC’s victory.
Her emotional recollection and public support for the NDC have sparked conversations about the intersection of politics, faith, and personal resilience, with many commending her for standing firm through adversity.
