Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin is concerned that the Executive and Judiciary are working together to diminish the power of the Legislature in Ghana.
The Speaker of Parliament announced this during a press conference on November 6, 2024, to discuss the matters concerning the empty seats in Parliament.
In his view, there isn’t a constitutional crisis in the country as the citizens of Ghana are led to believe.
Adding that the judiciary and the executive branch should make the laws of the country work.
“Democracy is about the rule of law, let the law work”.
It should be noted that the Supreme Court granted the Majority Leader, Afenyo Markin, an ex parte application for a stay of execution.
Even though the Speaker attempted to overturn the Supreme Court’s ruling, the court dismissed his case, suggesting that failing to comply with their decision will constitute a serious offense.
