FORMER GHANAIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER SAM PEE YALLEY PASSES AWAY

Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley, former Ghanaian High Commissioner to India and President of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Professionals Forum, has died. The seasoned diplomat and lawyer passed away on Sunday at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, though the exact cause of death remains undisclosed.

Ambassador Yalley served as Ghana’s High Commissioner to India from 2014 to 2017 under the administration of former President John Mahama. Prior to his diplomatic role, he was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA).

A respected legal practitioner, Yalley was also a prominent voice in Ghanaian politics, advocating for professionalism in governance and female leadership. His leadership of the NDC Professionals Forum reinforced his commitment to fostering expertise within the political sphere.

The news of his passing has drawn heartfelt condolences from high-profile figures, including Alban Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, who described Yalley as an “astute statesman and respected member of the NDC.”

In a social media post, Bagbin wrote:
“I learnt with pain the passing of my brother and friend, Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley. He was a champion of professionalism in politics and a key figure in the NDC’s Professionals Forum. My deep condolences to his family and all who mourn this great man.”

Beyond his political and diplomatic contributions, Yalley was known for his strong advocacy for gender equality and female leadership in Ghana. His efforts in promoting women’s participation in governance earned him widespread admiration.
