Legendary music producer and sound engineer, Hammer the Last 2, has challenged the government to recognize the creative sector equally to other industries like mining.
The mining industry is one of Ghana’s sectors that the government prioritizes and views as essential. The queen of Galamsey is currently on trial, therefore the battle for Galamsey is still going on.
Hammer discussed the importance of the creative sector in a Showbiz A-Z Show interview with George Quaye on Joy FM.
“Government is not putting a value on the creative arts yet. You see if the government really understands the potential of the creative arts they would treat it like the mining industry”, he said.
Hammer the Last 2 has urged the government to channel its energy to the creative industry because it is equally lucrative. He explained that “the mining industry, their money be fiscal … so they put more prominence on that industry forgetting that the creative arts industry is as lucrative as the mining industry”.
