“I SMELL SOMETHING FISHY AROUND THE LIFTING OF PARTIAL LOCKDOWN – Efia Odo

President of Ghana announced on Sunday evening April 19, that the 3-week partial lockdown in Greater Accra and Ashanti region have been lift and this has attracted mixed reactions both on social media and mainstream media.

While some are of the view that the president’s decision was the best for the country at the moment, others have expressed their disappointment and have detailed their fear of a wider spread in the country.

Actress Efia Odo Andrea Owusu, is one of those who does not agree with the lift on the ban on restrictions especially when Ghana has recorded over 1000 Coronavirus cases. Efia believes the president’s decision was politically motivated.

In a post on her Twitter page, she said she “smells something fishy”.

According to the TV presenter, the decision to arrive at the lifting of the lockdown was made as part of a certain political agenda.

“Ban being lifted after 1000+ cases reported. Something smells fishy or shall I say there’s a political agenda aroma around this lift,” she wrote on April 19, 2020.

However, in his 7th address to the nation, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said the decision was influenced by several factors including Ghana’s ability to undertake aggressive contact tracing, an enhanced capacity to test, expansion of the number of treatment and isolation centres as well as the impact of the virus on the poor and vulnerable in the affected areas.
